KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Current open their playoff run at home Saturday, hosting Angel City FC in an NWSL quarterfinal at CPKC Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. Central.

Kansas City is the No. 4 seed at 16-9-5 with 53 points and comes in on a five-match winning streak. Angel City, the No. 5 seed, finished one point back at 15-8-7. The two clubs have never met in the postseason. Their all-time series is even at 4-4-2, though the Current are 4-1-1 against Angel City since 2024.

Home field has been a fortress. The Current did not lose a regular season home match this year and stretched their league record to 32 straight regular season home games without a loss. This is the third season in a row they have hosted a quarterfinal at CPKC Stadium, and it is their fourth playoff trip in six seasons.

Both teams scored 54 goals, tied for the league lead. Temwa Chawinga and Haley Hopkins each scored 12 for Kansas City, and Hopkins found the net seven times in the final five games. Vanessa DiBernardo has a goal and four assists over the last five matches since returning from maternity leave.

Alana Cook, Clare Gagne and Mary Long are listed out, along with Ellie Bravo-Young, who is on maternity leave. Hopkins and defender Izzy Rodriguez never missed a game, suiting up for every one of the 30 league matches.

The club has been building up to the match all week. On Friday the club brought a pep rally to Holliday Montessori, where students dressed in teal and practiced a cheer to use while watching the game. Fans at the stadium Saturday will get team-themed 3D glasses.
