In a tragic turn of events, a Kansas City, Missouri (KCMO) man lost his life in a drowning incident at
Table Rock Lake on Tuesday. This heartbreaking episode unfolded amidst Tuesday’s unpredictable weather events that triggered an alert in the area.
Incident Near Cow Creek Cove
The deceased individual, a 61-year-old male from KCMO, was enjoying a casual afternoon around 4:45 p.m. on a 2022 pontoon in Cow Creek Cove, when he made the decision to leave the boat. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), after his departure, he was seen hanging on to the boat’s side. It was after he released his grip that the boat started to drift away abruptly.
Desperate Struggle to Survive
In the ensuing events, the victim attempted to swim after the boat desperately. As the boat continued to increase its distance from him, his struggles in the water intensified. Eventually, the man submerged under the water, said MSHP. His wife was present at the scene and managed to pull the drowning man from the water.
Efforts to Revive the Victim
In the tragic aftermath of the event, the man’s wife began to undertake life-saving measures against the ticking clock. Despite her commendable efforts and the subsequent measures performed by the medical team, the man was pronounced dead. The cause of his death was confirmed as drowning by a doctor from Cox Branson earlier Tuesday evening.
