News Summary

Kansas City is bracing for a significant weather change this week as a series of thunderstorms are forecasted to arrive by Wednesday. Following warm weekend temperatures reaching 84 degrees, a cold front will bring cooler air, settling temperatures in the mid-60s. As the week progresses, expect bright sunny skies early on Tuesday, but stormy conditions are anticipated by Wednesday morning. Residents should be prepared for possible severe weather, including damaging winds and large hail as the thunderstorm system develops.

Thunderstorms Set to Roll into Kansas City Midweek

Hey there, Kansas City! Buckle up, because the weather is about to take a wild turn this week. After a lovely weekend that saw temperatures soaring to a toasty 84 degrees, we’re headed into an active weather pattern that’s got a little bit of everything planned—from sunshine to thunderstorms!

A Cooler Start to the Week

It seems like Mother Nature is playing her own version of a rollercoaster ride. A cold front kicked through the Kansas City area on Monday morning, bringing in some cooler air just in time to take a breather from that unexpected heat. With temperatures expected to slide back to a more comfortable mid-60s, this week is likely to feel much more like spring should!

Keep your eyes peeled for the skies, though. You might enjoy some lovely sunshine during the morning, but don’t get too attached, as clouds are expected to creep in throughout the day.

The Calm Before the Storm

As we roll into Tuesday, expect much of the same: bright and clear skies with low chances of rain. However, don’t get too comfy! By Tuesday night, moisture from the Gulf is making a beeline to our area, setting the stage for what could be quite an eventful Wednesday morning!

Thunderstorm Forecast: Get Ready!

Mark your calendars because starting Wednesday, the weather is taking a dramatic turn. The National Weather Service has hinted at a series of thunderstorms rolling in and building throughout the week. They’ve even noted that some storms could pack a punch, especially by Friday, when conditions align for those wild, strong storms we sometimes experience in the Midwest.

Wednesday’s temperatures are slated to climb back up to around the 70-degree mark, followed by a leap into the mid-80s on Thursday. As these warm temperatures draw in moist air, don’t be surprised to see rain and thunderstorms creep back into your forecasts, continuing into the weekend.

What to Expect Wednesday

Tuesday night into Wednesday morning is where things might get a little dicey. Early predictions show storms developing after 10 p.m., first hitting areas west of the metro, before spreading into Kansas City. The main concerns as these storms approach include damaging winds and large hail, so make sure you have your weather app handy for real-time updates!

By Wednesday morning at around 7 a.m., the storms are expected to clear out. But don’t relax just yet—the damage could leave behind cooler temperatures as we head into the latter part of the week. Plus, there’s a slight chance that some of these storms may produce severe weather, so a level 1 out of 5 risk of severe storm development is being flagged for certain areas of the metro.

The Weekend Outlook

Looking further ahead, if you’re making plans for Easter weekend, keep in mind about intermittent rain and thunderstorms that could stick around. Saturdays are looking to cool down a bit with temperatures around the mid-60s, while Easter Sunday might flirt with the 70-degree mark again.

Also, as warm, dry conditions pickup on Sunday, winds could gust high—reaching between 30 to 40 mph. This means we might have to keep an eye on fire concerns in the area. It’s definitely wise to stay informed, especially in case those wild winds start kicking up!

Stay Prepared!

Stay tuned for updates as meteorologists continue to observe this evolving weather pattern, especially with the anticipation of that busy stormy stretch kicking in! We hope you have a fabulous week ahead while staying weather wise!
