Kansas City, Missouri – Two men have been arrested on multiple charges related to child molestation, raising significant concerns about child safety in the community. Montiero Murray, 50, has been charged with eight counts including child molestation and statutory sodomy, while Carlos Climaco-Garcia, 26, faces two counts of child molestation following a disturbing incident at a local beach.

Montiero Murray’s Allegations

Murray was arrested on July 2, 2025, for alleged crimes that reportedly occurred between 2008 and 2024. He is currently being held in the Jackson County Jail on a cash-only bond of $250,000. Court documents reveal that Murray has been active in his local community, being a member of a church in Jackson County where he served as a piano player and provided individual piano lessons. He reportedly used these connections to interact with children music at the church.

Numerous victims have come forward with accusations against Murray, stating he engaged in inappropriate touching, including touching children through their clothing and making them undress to be weighed. One victim reported that Murray asked a boy to sit on his lap after he had weighed him. Several other victims have shared similar disturbing experiences that allegedly took place during visits to Murray’s home.

Carlos Climaco-Garcia’s Charges

Separately, Climaco-Garcia was arrested during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, charged with two counts of child molestation related to an incident at Little Platte Swim Beach in Smithville on July 4, 2025. The incident involved two girls, both under the age of 14, who were swimming when Climaco-Garcia allegedly began questioning them personally. When the girls attempted to swim away, he is accused of groping them and trying to remove their swimsuit bottoms. Fortunately, the girls managed to escape by kicking him and promptly reported the incident to nearby adults, which triggered a law enforcement response.

Deputies detained Climaco-Garcia shortly after the incident, using the girls’ descriptions to locate him as he exited the water. He is currently held in the Clay County Detention Center with a bond set at $75,000. Prosecutors are seeking an increase in his bond amount, and a bond reduction hearing is scheduled for July 10, 2025.

Increased Safety Measures

In light of these incidents, local authorities are expressing heightened concern regarding the safety of children in community settings. As a proactive measure, law enforcement is increasing officer presence in recreational areas to ensure that children are protected while enjoying community facilities.

Community Response

The allegations against both men have shocked many residents of Kansas City, prompting discussions about vigilance in monitoring the safety of children. Parents and community members are urged to educate their children about personal safety and to communicate openly about potential dangers they may encounter.

Legal Proceedings Ahead

As the legal proceedings for both Murray and Climaco-Garcia unfold, authorities are encouraging anyone with additional information or potential allegations to report them to law enforcement. The seriousness of these charges emphasizes the accountability required to protect the welfare of children in the community.

Both men remain behind bars as investigations continue and as the community grapples with the implications of these serious allegations.
