LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Kansas City Current finished the NWSL regular season with a 2-0 road win over Racing Louisville FC on Sunday night, Nov. 1, at Lynn Family Stadium, a result that locked up the No. 4 seed and a home quarterfinal for the Kansas City club.

Both goals came off corner kicks delivered by midfielder Vanessa DiBernardo. Defender Kayla Sharples headed in the first in the 15th minute, her first goal of the season. Forward Haley Hopkins added the second with another header in the 59th minute. Chawinga nearly made it two before the break but struck the post in the 30th minute.

The Current closed at 16-9-5 with 53 points and won their last five matches. The shutout was the club’s sixth of the year and third on the road. Louisville ended 7-20-3 in 15th place.

Kansas City scored 54 goals, the most in the league this season and the second-highest total in franchise history. Hopkins and Temwa Chawinga each finished with 12 goals. Midfielder Croix Bethune set NWSL single-season records for assists and game-winning assists, reaching 11 assists on Oct. 25 against Washington. The club also topped 50 points for a third season in a row.

Home has been the team’s strength. The Current went 11-0-4 at CPKC Stadium in 2026, scored a franchise-record 39 goals there and stretched their home unbeaten run to 32 matches.

Next up is a quarterfinal at home against Angel City FC, the No. 5 seed, at 11 a.m. Central on Saturday, Nov. 7. It is the club’s third straight trip to the playoffs and fourth in six seasons, and the third playoff match ever played at CPKC Stadium.
